Hi there!
Will Clemens is a London based composer who started his career working for the wildlife department at BBC Bristol. The IK Foundation’s “Bridge Builder Expeditions” at Spitsbergen was a great opportunity for him to utilise his field recording skills and the very first time he composed music whilst at sea. He is now the field audio expert and in-house composer for The IK Foundation.
Today, in the latest iEXPOSURE – with fascinating visual stories in Natural & Cultural History, this story will be presented in pictures and text from The IK Foundation’s creative world of interdisciplinary enterprises. We are pleased to present a unique insight of Will's everyday life in London and how he became one of the few composers who has created music in the Arctic Ocean.
This piece entitled ‘FROM CITY LIFE TO THE WILD – a journey in pictures and music’ is an interesting and relevant chronicle of how creative human beings in varying ways and environments produce work with great attention to detail in strikingly contrasting landscapes. Sound is an important component for understanding our surroundings, but also for creating a story, a kind of documentary in tones!
As the IK’s audio expert, Will also works on filtering sound observations and development of the FIELD STATION | NATURAE OBSERVATIO sound project (recording of animal sound over long periods via the Field Station), an important cog in our long-term work of understanding Planet Earth!
