CONTENT: | The Quagga foetus mentioned in the text is still in the collections of the Swedish Museum of Natural History and is currently (2018) on display in the exhibitions. When Sparrman returned to Sweden in 1776 he presented it, together with other mammals, birds, and ethnographica from his voyage, to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. In a short list of his collection written by him, he refers to it as “Vilda randiga Hästfölet uppstoppad” [= the Wild Striped Foal stuffed]. |
