CONTENT: Kalm’s ‘Description of the Niagara Waterfalls in North America’ stretching over more than ten pages in the printed journal, a text having its origin in a letter written in Swedish to the Librarian Giörwell at the Swedish Academy of Sciences. This part of Kalm’s journey also aroused a lot of contemporary interest in the American colonies as Kalm wrote a five page letter to Benjamin Franklin on September 2nd, 1750 from Albany describing his observations in the area. Furthermore, Franklin published the letter in the Pennsylvania Gazette on September 20th the same year.
