STRUCTURE (v.2) | THE STATION'S SKELETON
The Field Station is built and integrated into a lightweight transportable pipe skeleton – where clamps are used to connect the piping parts – and box system of steel and aluminium. The same boxes are also used for transport of various parts of instruments and apparatus for the Field Station. Every separate transportable unit is adjusted in size, to be able to be transported in a protected and safe way from or to vehicles, planes and boats as well as when being handled manually during fieldwork.
The aluminium boxes are made to IP54 standard, have strong stainless steel locks and hinges, spring handles and a rubber gasket. The boxes have extra sealing in joints and are fitted with extra strong corners, which makes it easy to stack safely during transport. Boxes are adjusted to Euro-pallets ground measurement.
